The Nursing Scope

The Voice of Professional Nursing Practice & Research

A peer-reviewed platform dedicated to advancing nursing knowledge, practice, ethics, and education across Nigeria and beyond.

About The Journal

The Nursing Scope is the official, peer-reviewed journal of the University Graduates of Nursing Science Association (UGONSA). It is dedicated to promoting science-based healthcare by disseminating cutting-edge research and evidence-based knowledge in nursing, allied health sciences, and medicine on a global scale. Established with roots dating back to 1989, the journal welcomes contributions from researchers, scholars, and professionals, and it is available online—with print editions offered as part of UGONSA’s professional conference materials.

Peer Review Process

Submission

Authors submit their manuscripts to the UGONSA National Secretary. The submitted work is first screened for clarity, originality, and compliance with submission guidelines. Initial checks, including plagiarism detection, are performed before the manuscript enters the review phase.

Review

Manuscripts are assigned to qualified reviewers and evaluated through a double-blinded process. Reviewers assess the study’s clarity, methods, ethical compliance, and overall contribution, while editors use tools like Turnitin to check for originality. Detailed feedback is then compiled for the author.

Decision

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the editor’s evaluation, a decision is made: the manuscript may be accepted as is, accepted with minor revisions, require substantial revisions, or be rejected. Authors are then notified of the outcome along with any feedback provided.

Publication

Once the manuscript is finalized and all revisions are satisfactorily addressed, the final version is prepared for publication. After confirming payment (if applicable) and completing the scheduling, the article is published both online and (optionally) in print, making it accessible to the global audience.

Ethics & Publication Statement

At The Nursing Scope, ethical publishing is paramount. Our rigorous, double-blind review process upholds international standards by strictly adhering to COPE recommendations and the WMA’s ethical guidelines, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and integrity.
